Bubba Jenkins Represents Louisiana Construction Interests at National Association of Home Builders Legislative Conference
BATON ROUGE, LA – June 24, 2025 – Bubba Jenkins spent two days on Capitol Hill last week advocating for Louisiana's residential construction industry as part of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Legislative Conference. Jenkins met with Louisiana's House and Senate delegation to address critical issues affecting home builders and the path to homeownership across the state.
During his time in Washington, D.C., Jenkins participated in seven scheduled meetings with Louisiana representatives and their staff members, focusing on key legislative priorities that impact the residential construction sector.
"Our discussions centered on practical solutions that will help Louisiana builders continue making homeownership dreams a reality for families across our state," said Jenkins. "The willingness of our delegation to listen to our concerns and work with us on these important issues was encouraging."
The advocacy efforts focused on five primary areas:
Energy Efficiency Standards: Pushing for the removal of energy codes from HUD oversight to provide builders with greater flexibility in construction standards.
Workforce Development: Supporting enhanced Job Corps programs to address the skilled labor shortage in the construction industry.
Tax Policy: Advocating for the extension of pro-business tax credits that support construction companies and residential development.
Regulatory Reform: Promoting the reduction of excessive regulations that impede new construction and increase housing costs.
Appliance Choice: Working to prohibit states from implementing bans on gas appliances, preserving consumer choice and builder flexibility.
Jenkins expressed gratitude to Louisiana's House and Senate members and their staff for their time and attention to these critical issues affecting the construction industry.
"The collaborative spirit we experienced reinforces our confidence that Louisiana's delegation understands the importance of supporting policies that enable builders to meet the growing demand for affordable housing," Jenkins noted.
The NAHB Legislative Conference brings together home builders from across the nation to advocate for policies that support residential construction and homeownership opportunities.
